M+M Steelwork for Autodesk Inventor

Efficient and powerful in profile technology and connection

Additional components required for mechanical design, such as supporting structures, substructures, operating and maintenance platforms, stairs and railings, can be created with M+M Steelwork within Autodesk Inventor. M+M Steelwork is used to simplify the design process and to create realistic views of steel structures.

Holistic approach in mechanical and plant engineering

M+M Steelwork is an add-on to Autodesk Inventor and is useful wherever mechanical components and steel structures are created with Inventor.

3D CAD systems for mechanical design often lack special functions for creating designs suitable for steel construction. With M+M Steelwork, the designer can, for example, design the access to his machine or supporting structures, operating and maintenance platforms, stairs and railings within Inventor.

Mechanical and steel designs are created and processed in the same assembly structure. In addition to the uniform creation of drawings and parts lists and the continuous data management, this means considerable advantages when making subsequent changes. Necessary adjustments to assemblies or components can therefore be considered and carried out holistically.

Integration
All functions are available via the Inventor user interface. The look and feel of the M+M Steelwork dialogs are based on Inventor. Parts and assemblies created with M+M Steelwork are native, compatible Inventor objects, so users can edit all M+M Steelwork objects with normal Inventor functions.

Compatibility
Autodesk Inventor Version: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019

M+M Steelwork is the perfect addition for almost every Inventor user

  • easy to learn
  • high benefit due to efficient working technique (parametric-on-demand)
  • standardized profile technology and connecting components
  • efficient structural parts such as bracing, stairs and railings
  • plate and web angle connections, stiffeners, shears, plates, gratings, glass fillings, bolt connections
  • excellent price/performance ratio

Parametric design in steel construction

Increasingly, steel and steel hall constructions are no longer being created as purely functional buildings. Special design ideas of the client or the architects must be realized. The designs are sometimes very complex and can only be realized with a powerful 3D tool such as Autodesk Inventor together with MuM Steelwork.

Use in miscellaneous steel and sheet metal constructions

This involves the design and manufacture of stairs, platforms, terraces, outdoor balconies, railings, doors and gates. A highly customized, if not unique, structure is often desired. In addition to the functional requirements, the look and feel of the element is often important, too.

  • Profile nodes and profile node contours
You can use this function to carry out manipulation operations on profiles and their nodes.
  • Create and modify hole patterns
Regular hole patterns can be created by simply moving over the component surface in Autodesk Inventor. Of course, it is also possible to make subsequent changes or to transfer the hole patterns to other components.
  • Typical structural steel parts
Customize typical steel construction stairs according to your parameters, plan or design new ones. Your individual design is created as an Inventor assembly structure and can be used as a template, for example.
Easily create diagonal bracing (L, flat or round profiles) as a bolted or welded version. The resulting Inventor assembly structure can be modified or used as a template.
  • Typical steel connections
Functions for standardized and user-defined panel connections are available. Attach profiles to a rigid endplate connection or create special connections.
  • Further possibilities with M+M Steelwork
    Bolt connections
You can choose from various bolt standards and the bolt length is determined automatically. All data is stored in a Microsoft Access database and can be added to or changed as required.
    Stiffeners and gusset plates
Stiffeners are created to match the selected profile. Edge distances and shapes are specified via parameters, positioning is done via Inventor dependencies.
  • Special profiles
Create your own profiles, e.g. for cold rolled sheets, hot rolled profiles and ranges, and integrate them into your user interface.
M+M Steelwork is integrated into Inventor during the installation. Component properties, custom profiles and the parts list output can be customized.

System requirements
Autodesk Inventor in the current version and 5 previous versions Windows 10 / 64 bit
